UTSA Concert Choir
The UTSA Concert Choir, directed by Dr. John Silantien, is an auditioned group that consists of approximately 60 undergraduate music majors. They tour annually throughout Texas and neighboring states. They have performed at division and national conferences of the American Choral Directors Association. The Concert Choir has appeared in concert and workshop settings before the Texas Music Educators Association. In December 1998, they were the sole chorus invited to perform Handel's Messiah with the San Antonio Symphony in the newly refurbished Empire Theatre, and, in April 2000, they were featured as the chamber choir in the Symphony's performance of Berlioz' Romeo and Juliet. In Spring of 2006 the UTSA Concert Choir toured Europe, staging performances in a number of locations of musical and historical interest.
