The
Janice K. Hodges
Contemporary Piano Performance Award was established in honor of the late Dr. Janice Kay Hodges. Dr. Hodges began the Contemporary Piano Competition for pre-college pianists during her tenure at UTSA with the purpose of introducing new literature to young students and their teachers. Her hope was that exposure at an early age would make the unique language of modern music as familiar as that of Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin. The UTSA Keyboard Area seeks to further her mission by encouraging advanced pianists to study and perform the music of the late 20th century to the present. Sunday, February 5, 2006 marks the third annual Contemporary Piano Performance Award
- a gala recital of performances featuring talented collegiate-level artists from across the state of Texas. Three cash awards will be presented to the most outstanding performers. This event is free and open to the public. Please join us for an exciting afternoon of contemporary music for a new generation!
