Ron Noble, Bassoon
Ron holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from DePaul University and a Master of Music degree from UTSA.
He has been the bassoon instructor at UTSA since 1996. Before coming to UTSA, Ron taught bassoon at Trinity University. He is in his 37th season with the San Antonio Symphony, playing contrabassoon and bassoon, and also serves as the principal bassoon with the San Antonio Opera.
Ron has performed with the Dallas, Austin, Corpus Christi, Miami, and Naples (Florida) symphonies. He has played for the Joffrey and Miami Ballet companies. Ron’s opera experience includes the Santa Fe Opera as well as playing for the Lyric Opera of Chicago. This past summer, Ron played contrabassoon and bassoon as a member of the Grant Park Symphony in Chicago.
His chamber music experience is extensive, having played in woodwind quintets in Chicago as well as Miami and San Antonio. He is a member of the UTSA woodwind quintet.
Ron performed the Dvořák Wind Serenade with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. He was first bassoon of the Winters Chamber Orchestra for many years.
Recently, Ron helped develop a new contrabassoon shaper, the Noble-Skinner, that is now available from the Fox Corporation.
