Ron Ellis, Associate Director of Bands - Director of Athletic Bands
Ron Ellis currently serves as an Associate Director of Bands and the Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Texas, San Antonio where he has been tasked with organizing and directing the inaugural edition of the UTSA Marching Band for their debut in 2011. At UTSA, Prof. Ellis also conducts the University Band and teaches Music Education students in the Marching Band Techniques course as well as overseeing operations of the UTSA Basketball Pep-Band. Prior to his appointment at UTSA, Mr. Ellis served as Assistant Director of Bands at the University of Central Florida from 1995 until 2010 where he directed, arranged music and designed drill for the 310 member UCF Marching Knights, Directed the 100 member Jammin' Knights Pep-Band, Co-Conducted the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and University Bands and taught Rock History. He is an active composer, arranger, conductor, clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States with orchestral compositions recently performed in Carnegie Hall and his marching band arrangements performed by over 75 high schools. He also currently serves as a Music Director for Walt Disney Attractions Entertainment in Orlando where he has directed the Toy Soldiers and the Student Musician Program since 1993.
Prof Ellis received his Bachelor of Arts in Trombone Performance from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Music in Wind and Orchestral Conducting from the University of South Florida where he was a conducting student of William Wiedrich.
