Charles Kuentz, Music Education

Music Education

Currently in his 31st year of teaching music, Charles Kuentz teaches music education courses which include supervising student teachers for the UTSA College of Education and Human Development.

Mr. Kuentz completed his undergraduate work at the University of Houston, where he participated in performing ensembles under the direction of Eddie Green and Dr. Bill Moffit. He was also a student of trombone under Al Lube. His graduate work in Music Education was completed at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he studied conducting with Dr. Robert Rustowicz.

Before becoming a member of the adjunct faculty at UTSA, Mr. Kuentz taught in the Northside I.S.D. for 21 years, of which 18 were Director of Bands at Tom C. Clark High School. Throughout his public school career, Mr. Kuentz has consistently produced award winning ensembles in many different genres, including concert, marching and jazz. He is an active member of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association (TMAA), Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA). Mr. Kuentz is also an active music mentor, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the Central and South Texas Area.
