Catherine Nix earned a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in vocal performance and pedagogy from The University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied with the late Dr. Barbara Doscher. Dr. Nix has held voice faculty positions at Texas Tech University in Lubbock and at The University of Colorado at Denver. She is currently serving as Adjunct Professor of Voice at University of Texas at San Antonio. Her oratorio/sacred music credits include Elijah, Messiah, Gloria (Vivaldi), Stabat Mater (Pergolesi), Messe Solennelle-St. Cecilia (Gounod), Vesperae Solennes de Confessore (Mozart), A German Requiem (Brahms), and many other works. She has recently appeared as a guest soloist with Musical Bridges Around the World, the San Antonio Choral Society, the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio, the Colorado Music Festival, the Littleton Symphony, the Westminster Symphony, the Timberline Symphony, the Longmont Chorale, and the Boulder Chorale. Dr. Nix has presented recitals and master classes in universities across the country. Her operatic credits include Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and Angelina in Trial by Jury. She currently resides and teaches in the Helotes/San Antonio area.
