Faculty saxophonist Dr. Rami El-Farrah will present the Bel Cuore Quartet in a performance entitled, "Bebop to Bagpipes." This saxophone group has performed at SXSW, the Fast Forward Austin Festival,and Contagious Sounds in New York, in addition to a residency at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland and a recording on the Longhorn Music label.
In "Bebop to Bagpipes," BCQ will perform a wide variety of original and transcribed music for saxophone quartet, including the beloved orchestral piece Le Tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel, a new rock/funk/minimalist piece by Steven Snowden, and the saxophone standards Drastic Measures by Russell Peck and Fantasy Etudes by William Albright.
