Winds and Percussion
The UTSA Department of Music offers a Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in Winds and Percussion Performance. Students must audition into the program on a primary instrument. Once accepted, weekly private instruction is offered as well as complementary courses in music theory and history, keyboard, ensembles, literature and conducting. In addition to private instruct, the faculty bring in international performers who offer master classes for our majors. San Antonio offers many opportunities for performance and the Department of Music assists in connecting students to the community. The capstone experience is a senior recital. Graduates with a BM with an emphasis in Wind and Percussion Performance have been accepted into competitive graduate programs throughout the United States, and perform in professional and community ensembles.
