Dr. Jane M. Kuehne-Outstanding Alumnus for 2009.
A University of Texas at San Antonio alum, Dr. Kuehne received undergraduate and graduate degrees here in music education.
After completing her graduate degree in 2000, Dr. Kuehne enrolled at Florida State University, where she earned a Ph.D in music education in 2003. From 2003-2005 she was a music education faculty member at Hartwick College in Upstate New York, where she taught undergraduate music, music education, and educational technology courses and started the college's first a cappella vocal jazz group.
In 2005, she began her current position in music education at Auburn University where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in music education and music education technology and has an active research and outreach program.
She has been published in The Journal of Research in Music Education and other national and regional journals, and has been an active clinician at state, national, and international music and music education conferences. Dr. Kuehne\u2019s research interests include sight-singing instruction (specifically with beginning-level students), music and computers, and music education for under-served populations.
She is an active clinician at state, national, and international conferences for music and music education. We at UTSA are proud of her accomplishments and salute Dr. Kuehne with the Outstanding Alumnus of 2009.
