Meet some graduates of the UTSA guitar program:

Studying classical guitar with Matthew Dunne at UTSA exceeded all of my expectations. Dr. Dunne’s knowledge of guitar technique and music pedagogy is of the highest standard.
Robby Gibson, DMA UT Austin, BM UTSA, finalist in national competitions, currently teaching guitar full time at an arts high school in Alabama.

The training and musical environment I experienced in the guitar studio at UTSA gave me the confidence and control needed to be successful in real world situations. These skills have been valuable to me in the academic and commercial music spheres and beyond.
Jake Owen, BM UTSA, internationally touring guitarist in several genres, including jazz, rock, and latin styles.

The value of education is often seen only as a good “investment,” overlooking what I believe to be the greater goal of learning. The U.T.S.A. Music Department has helped me achieve that goal by offering a comprehensive curriculum and a faculty with a passion for music. My study at U.T.S.A. was a challenging experience that greatly contributed to my growth as a musician specifically in music theory, history and performance. The commitment and dedication of the faculty was invaluable as it gave me a in a clearer understanding and deeper appreciation of music.
Raymundo Tamez, BM UTSA, teaching assistant in guitar performance at Southern Methodist University

My experience at UTSA was truly transformational. I regard my study
here as one of the most positive influences to me as a developing
musician. I came to know that music can play a powerful role in
creating a true sense of fulfillment, not only in my life, but in the
life of virtually every human being. My professors were a great
inspiration to me, expecially in the challenges I faced as a
performing guitarist.
I have come away from UTSA knowing that all
obstacles exist only to be overcome.
I currently work with special
needs children and perform as a guitarist with the band, the Red
Hotts. I am also beginning a guitar program at Galindo Elementary
School
in Austin, Texas.
Kalia Earsley, BM UTSA, professional guitarist and educator, Austin, TX.
