| Ask at least three faculty members to serve on your committee |

One faculty member must be outside of area of study. It is recommended that the student’s major professor and/or document supervisor serve as chair of the committee. Adjunct faculty members may serve as a member or as co-chair of a committee along with tenured or tenure-track faculty members. Please have adjunct faculty members contact the music GAR immediately if they agree to serve on or co-chair your graduate committee |

At least eight to twelve weeks prior to comprehensive examinations (this would occur in the semester prior to the semester of graduation) |

Set up a meeting to clarify revisions of document |

After the initial review of the document and no later than census date of the semester you plan to take your comprehensive exam |
Students are welcome to discuss preparation for their comprehensive examinations with their committee ahead of time. It is up to the individual committee member as to how much, if any, specific or general information he or she would like the student to have prior to the examination |
| Send an email to the Graduate Advisor of Record (Dr. Drew Stephen) indicating your intention to take comprehensive examinations |

Include in the email the agreed upon date, time and location of comprehensive exams. Email should only follow approval of committee members that the document is in an acceptable format and completion is expected that semester |
| Schedule your graduate recital |
No later than September 15 for Fall and December 15 for Spring. Summer Recitals are considered on an individual basis |
Recitals should not be scheduled during the last week of classes or during dead days. Scheduling should only follow approval of the committee that the document is in an acceptable format. The recital must be scheduled M-TH at 7:30pm–Contact Cynthia Solis at 458-5685 or cynthia.solis@utsa.edu |
| Apply for Graduation |
October 1 for Fall graduation, February 15 for Spring graduation, June 1 for Summer graduation |
Extensions are granted only in extreme circumstances. Applications are accepted online only. Graduation ceremonies only take place in May or December and can include summer graduates |
