Dr. Susan Olson received an undergraduate degree in performance from Capital University Conservatory of Music, her Master of Arts degree in vocal pedagogy and her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance from The Ohio State University. She has taught on the faculties of Kalamazoo College, Western Michigan University, Ohio Dominican University, Otterbein College, and University of Louisiana at Monroe and currently is Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Along with voice, she teaches Lyric Diction and Vocal Literature. Dr. Olson has appeared with the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, Zanesville Civic Orchestra, Westerville Symphony Orchestra, Bel Canto Singers, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and the Cantari Singers. She spent two years in the Robert Shaw Festival Singers, performing and recording in France and at Carnegie Hall. Most recently, Dr. Olson performed with the Louisiana Lyric Opera as Ruth in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance. Some other operatic roles performed include la zia principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, Madame Flora in Menotti's The Medium, The Old Lady in Bernstein’s Candide, Cecilia March in Adamo's Little Women, Isabella in Rossini’s L'italiana in Algeriand The Narrator in Mark Bucci’s Sweet Betsy from Pike.
