Introduction to Electronic and Computer Music

Individual Project #4

GOAL: To add music to at least one minute of video.

·        Find a video clip you like in the video folder on the desktop. You’ll need at least 1 minute of video; longer videos can be edited using Quicktime (see below). If you want to use other video, you need to clear it with me; it must not have audio on it already.

·        Save a copy of the video you want to use to your folder BEFORE you edit it.

·        Import the video clip into Pro-Tools.

·        Add a soundtrack to the video clip using any sounds you wish to.

·        Create an iDVD file of your project (see below). Optional: Burn on DVD.

I will grade you on

·        your successful completion of the assignment, including following directions,

·        the suitability, sensitivity and coordination of your music to the video images, and

·        technical and creative ability demonstrated.

To hand in:

·        The file name of your iDVD project (optional: a DVD of the finished project along with the filename).

·        A typed/word processed paper with a short description of what you did. Include the file name of your project as well.

Trimming a Section of a Movie with Quicktime

Selecting and moving part of a movie is easy in QuickTime Pro.

1.      Select the part of the movie you want to modify (use the In and Out selection markers and the arrow keys).

2.      Choose Edit > Trim

3.      Select “Save as” and save the file as a self-contained movie in your folder.

Working with iDVD

    1. Under the Movie menu in Pro Tools, select “Bounce as a Quicktime Movie.”
    2. Open iDVD and create your iDVD project with your movie.
    3. Optional: Burn to DVD. I believe this will only work on DVD-R, not a DVD+R.
