Introduction to Electronic and Computer
Music
Group Project #1
GOAL: Working in groups and using the mixing board, record
some sounds “live” on a CD using the CD burner.
·
You must include
at least one use of a microphone
·
You must include at
least one use of the mixing board's EQ.
·
You must include
at least one use of the effects sends on the mixing board to add effects from
one of the digital signal processors.
·
You need to
demonstrate your ability to pan a sound left and right.
·
At least once on
your recording you should have at least two events occurring at the same time
(for example, a voice from the microphone and a synthesizer).
It is recommended that your group practice
your “performance” before recording it on the CD-R. It is alright if the “final
take” is a track other than track 1 on your CD.
To hand in:
·
Your CD-R (don’t
forget to finalize it) with your project recording on it and
·
a typed/word
processed paper explaining what you did and where the various elements (EQ,
panning, the effect you added, etc.) occur so that I can hear them.
NOTE: For all projects, there is a ban on the use of
overly repetitive patterns. This includes drum loops or repetitive beats and
all but the most limited forms of ostinati.
