This is a hobby of mine - deconstructing movies through their metaphors. These essays are meant to be read after you see the movie - they are not movie reviews. Anyway, I hope you enjoy them...

I'll be adding films from time to time but for right now here's what I've got:

Off the Map (2003)

Y Tu Mamá También (2002)

Insomnia (2002)

Mulholland Dr. (2001)

Memento (2000)

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)

American Beauty (1999)

Limbo (1999)

The Red Violin (1998)

Diner (1982)

Saturday Night Fever (1977)

Short takes: Brief, undeveloped, treatments of 12 Monkeys, 2001, Big Night, The Fisher King, Time Bandits, Brazil, Baron Munchausen, and The Way We Were.

For anything by one of my favorite directors, Michelangelo Antonioni (Zabrskie Point, Blow-up, The Passenger, etc.), see the magnificent book Antonioni, the Poet of Images by William Arrowsmith. Absolutely wonderful.
