MUS 1112: Basic Skills of Music I, Fundamental Quizzes
Timed Quizzes on Fundamentals
A fluent knowledge of fundamentals is essential for a musician. Timed quizzes on various topics is one way I will test this fluency.
There will be three topics covered. You will be required to achieve at least an 80% accuracy on all three exams. If you do not, your final grade will be lowered a letter grade for each test on which you don't earn an 80% or better.
The topics and dates of exams:
The in-class exams will be given at the beginning of the period during class time on the dates above. There may be a second in-class exam a week after the first try on the quiz.
If you do not pass the in-class exam, you may take the exam as many more times as you need, but you must pass it on or before Tuesday, November 21st. You must schedule the re-testing with me. (I will not seek you out.)
The re-tests will become increasingly longer, and therefore more difficult. So it is your advantage to pass the exam on the first try.
If you miss class on the day the exam is given, it is the same as not passing the in-class exam.
