How to Change to Digital Input on the MPX-1

The Lexicon MPX-1 digital signal processor has both analog and digital inputs (and outputs). Although the best connection we have is through the digital inputs (from the mixing board, where the MPX is accessed through aux sends 1 and 2 in the two preset snapshots), the device has the annoying habit of reverting to analog input when it goes into idle mode.

So… here’s how to get the input to digital.

Press the “system” button until the word “Audio” is the first word on the screen. (Usually this take two pushes.)

Using the < and > buttons, scroll through the screens until “Audio Input/Clck” appears on the screen.

Move the knob to the right until “Digital/Ext” appears.

If the MPX now say “no lock,” it will revert to analog input. “No lock” indicates that it is not receiving digital input from any device. Check the signal path.

Press the “Program” button to return to the list of programs. The name and number of the current program should appear in the window.
