  • Former member of Los Camperos de Natí Cano. Currently Director of the mariachi program in Wenatchee, WA


Juan Morales
  • Former member of Los Camperos de Natí Cano and Mariachi Sol de Mexico. Currently director of the mariachi program in Wasco, CA



Mark Foguelquist

  • Former Director of UCLA’s Mariachi Uclatlán. Currently director of the mariachi program in Chula Vista, CA.


Students' Master Classes:
Teacher Workshops:
• Limited enrollment by audition for students grades 9-12
• All mariachi teachers and directors may register
• Violin, Guitar, Vihuela, Guitarròn, Trumpet, Voice, and Harp
• Pedagogy for mariachi instrumentation
• Stylistic Interpretive Techniques
• Arranging for the mariachi ensemble (Finale tutorials)
• Student Leadership Training
• History of the mariachi tradition
• Performance Techniques
• Instrumental and vocal interpretive techniques
• Music Theory
• Literature and repertoire of the mariachi

• Private Instruction

• Classroom teaching methods
• History of the mariachi
• Curriculum needs
• Transposition and improvisation for mariachi
• CPE Credit offered

 

Student Audition Requirements:

• All students are required to be dual vocalists and instrumentalists

• Must submit Institute Application

• Candidates must submit a VHS tape of the following:

• Two selections on principal instrument from mariachi repertoire

• One selection must be a "Son Jalisciense"

• Second selection should be of contrasting style

• Additionally, student should submit a vocal selection
