UTSA Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble performs challenging works from all genres of wind music: historical, traditional, contemporary, and the avant-garde. Comprised mostly of upper-level music majors and graduate students, the ensemble performs at least three concerts a semester and tours each fall.

UTSA Symphonic Band

Literature for the Symphonic Band is selected from the standard and traditional repertoire of music for the concert band. Especially pertinent are works appropriate for high school bands, as many of the band members are music education students pursuing a career as a band director. At least two formal concerts are presented every semester. |

The Jazz Ensemble specializes in the performance of the various streams of jazz and other music appropriate for stage band and jazz ensemble. Performances include at least two concerts each semester as well as other guest appearances. |

UTSA Roadrunner Band

The Roadrunner Band is the athletic performance band at UTSA. It performs at all UTSA Men's and Women's home basketball games. The instrumentation of the ensemble includes brass and rhythm section. Auditions are held in the fall semester. |

The UTSA Symphony Orchestra utilizes wind, brass, and percussionist selected through the Wind/Percussion auditions held before the beginning of each semester.

UTSA Percussion Ensemble

Focusing on the performance of music written for a wide variety of percussive instruments, the Percussion Ensemble presents one formal concert each semester Members are matched by skill level for rehearsal of small ensemble works varying from multi-percussion set-ups to marimba choir.

Devoted to the performance of music written for flute choir, the Flute Ensemble maintains an active schedule of performances. In addition to formal on-campus recitals, other activities have including playing for receptions, concerts at elementary schools and nursing homes, performances in collaboration with other area flute ensembles. |

UTSA Jazz Combo

Students (of any instrument!) who wish to develop their jazz improvisation skills may register for Jazz Combos. Musicians are matched and divided into a number of small combos, each including a rhythm section. Rehearsal times (at least once a week) are determined by members of each combo and instruction on improvisation is provided. Concerts include one evening performance per semester as well as the possibility of other informal engagements. |

The Mariachi Ensemble plays an important role at UTSA to provide students an opportunity to perform and showcase the Mariachi Tradition. This ensemble performs often in the San Antonio metro area. |
