Growing up in Kansas, Dan Zollars attended Wichita State University and received the degree Bachelor of Music Education Magna cum Laude in 1977. He also holds the degree Master of Music from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where his teachers included Bernard Greenhouse, Uzi Wiesel, and Timothy Eddy. As a fellowship student, Mr. Zollars participated in the Bach Aria Festival in Stony Brook and the Aspen Music Festival, where he studied with Gabor Rejto and Alan Harris. Mr. Zollars has also been a member of the Breckenridge and Colorado music festivals.
A member of the San Antonio Symphony cello section, Mr. Zollars has also served as Assistant Principal Cellist. He has also served as Principal Cellist of the Winters Chamber Orchestra, and is past Principal Cellist of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. He is also an active soloist and chamber artist, and has been performing together with Martha Oppenheim as a duo for seven years. He has also appeared as guest soloist with the UTSA Symphony Orchestra and the Winters Chamber Orchestra.
In addition to an active performance schedule, Mr. Zollars maintains a private teaching studio, and is a member of the faculties of the University of Texas at San Antonio and of the Incarnate Word College.
