Ron holds a Bachelor of Music Education from DePaul University and a Master of Music from UTSA. He has been the bassoon instructor at UTSA since 1996. He is in his 30th season with the San Antonio Symphony, playing contrabassoon and bassoon. He is also the Principal Bassoon with the San Antonio Lyric Opera. Ron has performed with the Dallas, Austin, Corpus Christi and Naples (Florida) symphonies.

His chamber music experience is extensive, having played in woodwind quintets in Chicago as well as Miami. He is a member of the UTSA woodwind quintet and the King William Winds. He was first bassoon of the Winters Chamber Orchestra for many years.
