Dr. Brian Harris, Associate Professor, holds the Ph.D. in Music Education
from the Florida State University, the Master of Music Education from
Louisiana State University, and the Bachelor of Music from Samford University.
Prior to joining the UTSA faculty in 1991, he taught public school instrumental
music. Dr. Harris conducts the Symphonic
Band and teaches Instrument Pedagogy, Wind Literature for the Young
Band, and serves as Area Coordinator for the
Winds & Percussion program. He is author of the Warner Brothers publication
Directional Warm-Ups for Band and is an active composer
and arranger of music for the young band, his concert works being
available through Bandroom.com Publications.
His current research endeavor is the Young
Band Repertoire Project, which seeks to promote and establish a quality
repertoire for the middle school band.
