Jennifer L. Cahill Clark joined the University of Texas at San Antonio in the fall of 2005.  She teaches string literature and pedagogy courses, viola, coaches chamber music, and works with the UTSA String Project.  A native Texas, Jennifer received her doctorate of philosophy in music education from the University of North Texas. While there she was teaching assistant to violist Dr. Susan Dubois, research assistant to Dr. Debbie Rohwer, and Master Teacher for the UNT String Project under Karrell Johnson. She holds a bachelor’s of music in viola performance from the University of North Texas, and a master’s of music from Texas Christian University.

While in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Jennifer taught at the Greater Ft. Worth Suzuki School and performed in many of the area’s region orchestras, including the Richardson Symphony Orchestra, the Irving Orchestra, the Plano Chamber Orchestra, and others.  She was principal and assistant principal in the East Texas Symphony, and substituted in the Ft. Worth Symphony.  Currently Jennifer is principal viola for the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and assistant principal of the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra.  Prior to relocating she held the positions of principal viola for the Laredo and Victoria orchestras.  She has performed in solo and chamber music recitals in Laredo and Nuevo Laredo, Austin, Denton, and Colorado.  In addition to working with Dr. Dubois, Jennifer has studied with Dr. George Papich and Joni Baczewski, and had coaching sessions with Heidi Castleman, Glen Dicterow, Karen Dreyfus, and Virginia Baron.  She has attended music festivals in Vermont and Colorado, including the Manchester Music Festival and the Killington Music Festival.

Jennifer, her husband Vince, and their son Matthew are enjoying San Antonio and all it has to offer, both culturally and socially. Vince teaches history for NEISD at Roosevelt High School, and Jennifer’s parents, who live in the area, are a great help with Matthew.
